Bay leaves (Laurus Nobilis L.) are used in cooking to deliver a distinct flavor and fragrance to soups, stews, curries, meats, seafood and vegetable dishes. The leaves are often used whole and removed from the dish before serving.
Bay leaves are also a kind of traditional Chinese medicine. They are the leaves of the plant laurel. Its main functions are to invigorate the spleen, dispel wind and dampness, promote qi and relieve pain.
