Common Chinese Name: 生薏米,薏苡仁
Coix Seed strengthens the Spleen and resolves accumulations of dampness with such clinical presentations as edema (including fluid in the lungs), various manifestations of dysuria, and diarrhea/loose stools.
Coix Seed resolves dampness and relieves pain to treat bi zheng (painful obstruction syndrome) caused by accumulated dampness.
Coix Seed clears damp heat conditions (from any level) when there are the accompanying symptoms of a greasy white tongue coating and digestive difficulties.
Dry-fried Coix Seed Chao Yi Yi Ren (炒薏米) is better able to strengthen the Spleen and harmonize the Middle. With bran, it is better able to stop diarrhea. Scorched enables it to reduce Food Stagnation and harmonize the Stomach.
